When I was in Junior High, I remember gas was 19 cents a gallon. However, I also remember I worked at the local drug store for 35 cents and hour. You could buy a soda pop ( aka coke, dr pepper, orange crush and others ) for 5 cents, a loaf of bread for 20 cents and a pack of cigarettes for 25 cents. It was 10 cents to go to the movies on Saturday afternoon and 5 cents for a bag of pop corn. While prices were really low, you still couldn't buy much on 35 cents an hour. LOL
