The main difference I see is that more of the quilt will be made of the darker fabrics. If I counted right, the old style had about 16.5 square inches of light and the new one has only 14. The block altogether has 49 square inches, so it was more dark than light already. That is neither good nor bad, just an observation, something to think about. I put your new design in EQ6 and made a simple quilt design (just 6 blocks square) so you can see the amount of dark vs. light more clearly.
