I hate that some people unknown to me call me 'dear', 'sweetie', or 'honey'. It is so demeaning. I just so much want to retort "I'm sorry, but we don't know each other well enough for you to call me a term of endearment."
This is mine as well, and I actually stated that as well (less the "I'm sorry" part) to a heavy equipment salesman that calls at work. He has never called (me) again!
