This is so true. My mom is 80 this year and while she may have said some thoughtless things in the past (as we ALL do), she wouldn't be rude like this!! I've known some really, truly sweet and gracious 80-year-olds. IMO, unless you have lost your mind and really can't control it, there is no excuse for rudeness at any age.
Of course, people who are without control physically, due to actual dementia, or whatever, it is a different matter, but that doesn't sound like this woman's problem (as in OP).
