Default The Nightmare Quilt for GS

Well...ready for a story? What started out to be a "best intentions" quilt ended up not being so! It all started when my grandson wanted a space quilt (seriously into space stuff at 6!). First I found the space panel; then had to hunt down materials that would coordinate with the panel (at this point I couldn't find any kits to meet my "qualifications"). Then had to design the layout (the sun idea came from the internet) - the plan was for a twin bed size. Construction was no easy task as the ORIGINAL border (multi-colored perpendicular pieces) were literally squeezed from the scraps. The actual construction took lots of time because there was lots to quilt/stipple. Being as such, my machine needed to go in for servicing right in the middle of quilting!@#%! So, I took it in, worked right at the quilt shop, finished the quilting, went home (w/o machine), washed/dried the quilt, got it in the mail, all in time for delivery to DC area for Christmas 2011. Got a call asking if I had finished the quilt!?!!! and could I make it for a full sized bed (they had just upsized his bed)!?!!! The original answer was no...so being the perfectionist I am, I ended up with the quilt again, ripping off binding, ripping out the stippling on the perpendicular border, finding more similar material as in the quilt, piecing batting, adding 12" to each side and backing, adding to the binding (from material I had - just enough), reconstructing, I finally had the recompleted quilt., again!!! Mind you, I was mumbling under my breath all the way and had to push myself all the way (he came close to being 20 before I got to it!!!!!!!!!!). To more pleasant things...the 16 year old quilt inspector, Igor, approved! Whew! You are a great at listening and I know you understand! Thanks!!!
