My cook book dated from the early '60's, but here is the Applesauce Cake recipe that was in it -- hope it ie the right one:
Applesauce Cake
1/2 cup butter or marg
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon sale
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1 1/2 cups canned applesauce
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Cream butter; gradually add sugar, creaming till light. Add eggs, beating well after each. Sift together dry ingredients. Add aalternately to creamed mixture with applesauce. Stir in raisins and nuts. Turn batter into greased and lightly floured 13x9x2 inch pan. Bake 350 degrees about 45 minutes or till done. Cool in pan.
