It's definitely faster and more precise for me, too.
I try every gizmo and doohickey that comes along and this just works. Wasting a little newsprint is much more acceptable to me than wasting time making blocks that are cockeyed.
I'm not crazy about all paper piecing, but I do love the precision and the stabilization of all that bias. It's like magic. Granted, I am a little bit persnickety, but this is what works for me. If you find that it helps you, too, don't feel bad about it.
