I have several "left overs" or "starters" never finished blocks, and I am wondering how to put them together like yours....If I start with what I have and do a couple blocks every couple days...it would take forever...lol.....
Hi, Kim. I think that everything was scraps except for a couple of pinwheels and a few odd 4-patches. No completed orphan blocks or leftover blocks....I have some but they were the wrong size for this. There are 20 15-inch squares composed of 4 6.5" squares plus the tan sashing and red cornerstone. At first all I could think to do were squarish things...then I started sewing little triangles into HSTs, then I wanted to try some traditional blocks like log cabins and a churn dash...then I wanted to try "wonky"....then a little house....and on and on. Way too much fun. The setting is based on a string quilt in Bonnie Hunter's book "Scraps and Shirttails."
Thanks to everyone for your comments....I love this one too. And I know that a quilt-mother shouldn't play favorites but I think this is my favorite block below. It doesn't show too well in the large picture. I want to sew on a small button for an eye after it's quilted. Her tail is leftover wedges from the little dresden fan block....couldn't bear to throw them out!
