Ok, here's a cheap stop-gap alternative.

The link will take you to a site that sells small alphabets. It's a quilting site, so they work well for labels.
The down side is that even tho she calls them fonts, they are really alphabets. You will have to select and place each letter individually. I have found that once you create your first basic label, you can reuse the design file, just replacing parts of it, like the date etc. I have the Viking design software and it will let me create small fonts but they don't stitch out as well as these do. If you are familiar with Embird, creating a label from this set of designs should be doable and an inexpensive alternative while you research a font creation alternative.
