I like it! Interesting technique you described, I too am curious as to where you found it. Are the points folded like prarie points? I am always intrigued by Prairie Points but wonder how they look after the quilt has been laundered. I just imagine them getting all wrinkled and laying every which way but flat! LOL So I would have to agree with your inner OCD about quilting those points down. At the very least I would tack them down.
