Library of Congress has wonderful old picture archives.
My mother's mother had a quilt frame just like that. It would raise up to the ceiling of the dining room. When the ladies from the church would come to help quilt, they just lowered it down and all sat around it quilting and chatting. My mom has told me about it several times.
