I wouldn't recommend paying that; but I didn't like my experience at the LQS. Didn't pay alot; but you brought whatever project you wanted to work on, they would help when needed....but would have to wait for the teacher to get done with the one before you. Better off saving your money and letting your friend help you and buying a good beginner book.
It would be of tremendous help if you would just slow down and practice running your machine before trying to do quilt. There may even be opportunity for you to take a class through your local adult ed and at a much cheaper price.
