I have the 1171 with the IDT foot and it was the first one I bought when I wanted to learn to quilt. Bought it in 1997 for around $1,000 brand new and still have it even tho I now have a Bernina 440 QE as my main machine. My son was looking at my Phaff just the other day as he wants to make camping/hiking back packs for him, his wife and son. He found a web site showing how to sew them and he said the Phaff with the IDT foot is popular with the guys that do this type of sewing. The web site is
