I just received a 185j about a week ago and absolutely adore her! My son saw it sitting on my cousin's porch and mentioned his Mom would like 'that'. She said it didn't work and told him to take it. He called me and I went over to get it. It was sitting in the base backwards and when we turned her around, she worked just fine! Her name is 'Amy' after my cousin, of course! Has her original cord and foot pedal which are in good shape. Just needs a slide plate, bobbin ring and spool pin, all of which I've just found online and will order tonight. I LOVE the 3/4 size of this machine and though she's heavy (I won't complain as I'm on the generous side too!) she would be my choice to take to a class IF I could come up with a decent case. She came with no cover, only her base which is in awful condition. Any ideas on cases that won't cost an arm and a leg?
Oh yes, she was born in Canada in 1954.
