I used a slash cutter, which made it very easy. Just slip the cutter into each channel and carefully run it to the other side and out. The whole thing took me about a half-hour to cut. I had to change the cutting surface a half-dozen times because the blade got dull quickly, but using the tool it was quite fast and easy.
