Rain and wind - very true. Hadn't thought about a regular carryon bag. Mine lay flat and zip around the side - hadn't thought about using that - thought it needed to open at the top. Must be a rolling bag and not just a tote. hmmmmm. Thanks for your input.
The upcoming retreat is one we'll drive to so .. no worries about too much protective packaging.
