I've watched it a few times and had no problem turning my binding corners. As a matter of fact, they come out nearly perfect if you do it this way. Also, I was told by a master quilter that if you press the binding away from the quilt body (after it is sewn on by machine) it will be easier to turn to the other side to hand sew. Tried it this time on my DD's quilt and it's effortless to turn it over! Just passing it on, hope this helps.
