Yes, I have that ankle. I got it so I can get a snap on 1/4" foot. I want the one without the guide. I find the original FMQ foot works great. Is it possible you don't have the stitches stabilized enough? Or you need to play with the tension? I found I have to lower the top tension for all of the embroidery stitches. Which is also what I have to do with most other machines with embroidery stitches, like the 401 etc.

I FMQ with mine, I have the original darning foot and I don't think it works as well as the snap on darning foot.
I also bought a modern ankle for it so I can use current feet, the ankle was expensive; but worth every penny.
