Ok, here is something else I finished during our Spring break. It is the quilting and binding of Roll, Roll, Cotton Boll, the 2010 Mystery Quilt I finished a year ago January.

I finally just got up the nerve to quilt it on my DSM. I followed advise of Penski (on this board) who said to put the backing, batting, and quilt top together on a large table. Divide the quilt into 3rds, and cut just the batting out of the sandwich. Number the battings where they were butted up together so you can reattach the batting after you finish quilting the center section. I used quilting spray and sprayed the center parts, then quilted just that section. I then used some fusible interfacing I cut into 1" strips and ironed the next piece of batting to the quilted middle section. I then used the quilting spray on that section and quilted it. By doing it in sections, I did not have to deal with the whole quilt getting in the way. I thought it worked really well.

I stitched in the ditch first, then traced designs on Press and Seal. I put these on the quilt and just followed the lines. I cannot do FMQ without following something! The Press and Seal pulled off easily and I am happy with how the quilt turned out.

The quilting does not show up it seems, I used invisible thread on the top. I should flip it over and take another photo.
