Default Panel quilt for preschool teacher

I offered to make a quilt for my grandson's preschool teacher as an end-of-year gift. She's at least in her 50's, maybe 60's so I think she'll appreciate the "Dick and Jane" style of this panel. I practiced a tiny bit of FMQing on this panel - since I've done little but cross hatch, and ditch stitching this is quite a stretch. I do have a Flynn Frame that got me started, but the size of my machine really limits the use of that frame.

Fabric: mostly Moda's American Jane "Recess" with a few blenders thrown in.

Backing: Mary Engelbreit for Moda - Recipe for Friendship

Quilting: echo quilted in panel and free form shapes in some blocks. (The blue block is supposed to be a flower!) Scallop stitch in borders.

Binding: pulled over from the back

Size: 46" x 62"

Pattern: Sidelights by Mountainpeek Creations

(I posted the top before I finished it so if you think you've seen this before - you have!)
