I have used this method (works great on Fan blocks) I find it works best on larger applique. Its important to grade your seam or pink because the bulk in the seam on smaller pieces is what you will struggle with. Its a great method to add to the tool box. Sometimes when I do applique I use different methods on the same project. I have aslo used this method with dissolving thread and removed the thread and interfacing after the pieces is turned and ironed, removes bulk but is rather tedious.
