Default Boo Hoo Hoo!

Well after buying the hinges for my Singer treadle cabinet I tried to fit my Singer 402A into it and it doesn't fit. Now I guess I'll have to buy another machine...!!!

I found a Singer 99 at a antique shop with the dome carrying case top but no attachments. It was pretty dusty and definitely needed a new foot pedal. $55. firm.

Since I'm not very knowledgeable about this machine, can I get some answers to a couple questions.

Will this model actually fit into a treadle cabinet? Is the spring/plate on the right side of the treadle, needed to install the machine, even if the machine is electric. If the machine fits is it better to keep the metal spring piece in the cabinet..or should it come out.

What other things should I look for with this machine, before I bring this one home. The bobbin and bobbin cover are intact, no rust or anything on the machine and the gold filligree is 100%.

Thanks for the feedback.
