Default Book Club Quilt Finished! Quilt Novel Musings

Check this off my bucket list! I had always wanted to do a sampler quilt where the blocks were based on books I had read. Last year creativesheila started a Quilting Board Book Club. We chose a quilting novel book every 4-8 weeks and then read and discussed online. It is amazing how many quilt novels are out there. We enjoyed our exploration of new authors and their books. After reading the book, we then made our individual blocks that represented the individual book to us.
For example, we read The Aloha Quilt by J. Chavernini last summer and took a virtual tour while we read. Then we played around with Hawaiian Blocks and patterns and then made our own blocks.
Our first book was the Cross Country Quilters and while we read we learned about the characters and about each other. Several of us chose a Friendship Block of some sort as our block for that book, but each block was different. We also did a fun crossword puzzle about this book.
I made so many wonderful new Quilting Board Friends and found a wonderful world of quilt novels...plus my quilt novel block quilt...Love the way it turned out!
I have also included a pic of the quilt label that lists the books, authors and quilt block names. Some of our authors are Jennifer Chaverini, Emilie Richards, Susan Wiggs, B. Sullivan, A. Sachitano.
What Fun!...by the way, I call this my Quilt Novel "Read" Quilt.
