Howdy Pardners, this weeks blocks can be a little trying......I'm trying to get them done sometime this week!!!
I'm having a little problem with my right knee and can't do any flexing of my ankle or any pressure on my foot.. It just hurts too much... I tried to sew but no can do that either. I tried to use the start/stop feature on my machine and I can't stop/start where I need to so what good is it. Oh well..I will be seeing my ortho guy as soon as I can get an appointment...I know what he's going to tell me...the same thing he told me a year ago..."when do you want to schedule the surgery"....I am totally dreading that day. I had the left knee replaced 7 yrs ago and the pain for me was unbearable...my tolerance for pain is "nil".

Letters of the Week #8B--Geneva Holt; Frank Harris; Yellowstone County.

This posting should be called "Geneva Holt and Family" since I found
more information about her family than I did about Geneva. What interested me
most about her letter was the three little brothers and two little sisters that
she visited at the cemetery.

George Willey Holt, age 24, married Betty F. Dotson, age 25, on Christmas Eve
1901.

Nine years later in the 1910 census, George and Betty are the parents of four
children: Ione (6); William (5); Geneva (3); and an unnamed baby son who was
less than a year old.

By the next census in 1920, only two children remain, Geneva and the brother
(William) that she mentions in her letter. I can find no record of the death of
her baby brother, but I was able to learn something about Ione. She was born
October 2, 1903 and died on March 23, 1913. The cause of her death was listed as
paralysis. Unfortunately, I can find nothing about the other two brothers and
one sister that Geneva mentions.

And sadly, in the 1930 census, the family only numbers three; siblings Geneva
and William and their father George. Mother, Betty, had died in Ohio on March
1929. Why was she in Ohio? I cannot find any records for father George in West
Virginia or Ohio, but apparently Ohio was brother William's home. He died in the
Cleveland area in 1982 at the age of 77.

What became of Geneva? I don't know. Since I cannot find any death record for
her, all I can assume is that she did marry.


Letters of the Week #8B--Geneva Holt; Frank Harris; Yellowstone Coun Frank Harris' full name is Charles Frank Harris, which makes finding
records of him rather confusing. He was born in March of 1898 in the state of
Washington. His parents were Charles L. and Roxie Irene Harris and he appears to
be their only child.
In the 1910 census Frank and his family were living in Montana where he won his
pony "Trixie."
No records can be found of Frank and his family in the 1920 census. However, in
1923, Frank married a woman named Ramona. In 1930 we find that Frank and Ramona
are living in Los Angeles, California, and they are the parents of three
children; Mona Lee, age 6; R. Dell, age 4; and a one month old baby. These
children could still be alive. Maybe they could be found!
