Default "new" quilting machine

I found a Pfaff Synchrotronic 1229 at an estate sale. I didn't know anything about it, but it was whispering to me to take her home with us. The lady running the sale said that the owner worked for Pfaff and it might have been a demo machine (she had a LOT of sewing stuff so she was also a seamstress!). It came with a lot of accessories and I was surprised when I got home and found that she's from the early 80's. That's really the only info I can find online about her.

I need to clean her up a little but she sews nicely. I have been wanting a little more space to quilt and she gives me another 1.5 inches of precious, precious real estate. It looks like a bear to thread and I am clueless on how to fill a bobbin (and what size bobbins?). I do have the instruction manual, so I'll figure it out after I clean her!
