I'm working on a quilt that I may be able to start machine quilting tomorrow. When I've quilted other quilts, I've just started the stitching in the extra fabric that extends beyond the quilt top. This quilt is a little more detailed where I will be picking up the needle and moving it several times. I'm wondering how I secure the thread in the quilt. Do I knot it? Do I just back stitch? I'm confused when it comes to this part of the process.
