Default 10-minute (several hour?) block lap quilt

I have been wanting to make a quilt using the 10-minute block technique but didn't want to make 20 in. blocks. So finally decided on 5in. squares with the 5th square 7in. I also added a 4 1/4in square for the cathedral window.

I was having problems with the crosss seam allowance being bulky and leaveing print of the seam after pressing the block, so decided to cut out the section from the back where the seams crossed.
I don't know what these snippers are call but I used them for raggy quilts. They worked great, but have to be very carefull you don't cut the front side of you block.
