I am so sorry for your loss......... I too have lost a loved one to cancer. That is such a lovely idea - to make a quilt from the dresses. How about double wedding ring or cathedral window with the lace in the middle of each window.
Good luck and will be watching for the finished quilt. PS: how about using colors of the flowers as a secondary color in the quilt.
