It definitely makes sense to me.

The general retail price difference between Canadian and US fabric prices is 2/3. If a line of fabric is $10 in the US, it is generally $15+ here. Sure, we get an extra 4 inches per yard/meter, but our shipping prices are astronomical compared to the US. So, if I were to order 3 yards from a US store, even if it cost $15 to ship to my home, I would still be ahead because the shipping price in Canada would be at least that.
