I make my own in an hourglass shape so the narrow part fits snugly on the shoulder. I originally made them flannel on one side, cotton the other, but the new mothers said the flannel does not absorb the spit very well, so I switched to terry cloth and they said that worked much better. I don't put anything in the middle, just sew the cotton and terry together and run a stitch about 5/8" in from the hemline to keep the 2 sides from getting wonky when washed.
