I bought two years ago, looked on Ebay but realized that many sellers don't know anything about the machines and you really don't know what you will be getting. I searched on Google for Featherweight Sellers and found Featherweight-Poppy.com. I paid more than some on Ebay but less than some and he gave me a 1 year guarantee, totally cleaned, oiled and adjusted, sent extra bobbins, needles, extra belt and instruction booklet for maintenance. Took it out of the professionally packed box and it worked perfectly. Since I had a warranty I took it to a local specialist to see if I paid a fair price and if it needed anything. He said it was mechanically perfect and that he would have sold it for much more here in California.
Best of all you email him with what you are looking for within your price range. After giving me a few choices and a few emails I adopted Shelley Ann. I didn't want an original case (too heavy and bulky) wanted a good cosmetic condition, strong motor and didn't care about the attachments. I paid a very reasonable price, got exactly what I wanted and didn't pay for things I didn't want and would never use. He even disclosed a very minor finish problem. The machine is just what he said it was and was less $ than some other sellers I contacted. I also didn't have to pay extra to fix anything it worked perfectly and still does. I believe this is the way to go. Love Shelley Ann and use it almost every day and she really "hums". Good Luck and hope you "adopt" soon.
