sounds like you have the concept already. I just looked at a pattern at Joanns that was this same thing but used apple core pieces. I read thru the pattern and think it is pretty simple. It did say to secure the pieces (at least temporarily) with a glue stick. It showed the picture of the whole cloth back ground with the grid drawn on. Do you need a pattern to follow?
