You take your fabric, fold it in half lengthwise (so the selvages meet) then fold it in half again. So your fabric is approximately 11-1/4inches wide. (11-1/4 times 4 equals 45") by however many yards you purchased. Then you lay your fabric on a flat surface, place the board on top of the fabric (so the longest side of the board is the part is perpendicular to the fabric & there is just a smidgen of the top & bottom of the board showing once it is covered with fabric) and start rolling the fabric around the board until the fabric is all rolled onto the board. Take the last inch, fold it under so the edge that is cut is folded under, & secure it with a plastic coated paper clip. Hope this helps explain it.
