Some teachers/designers require certification in order to teach their method.
Others have certification programs (Quilt-In-A-Day) which probably adds to their cridentials as a teacher of Eleanor's methods. At a retreat in WV each fall there are at least two teachers who teach the Quilt-In-A Day method. The National Quilting Assn has a general teachers certification program which covers all aspects of teaching. It might be worth investigating for someone who is ready to jump into the quilt teacher pool. I would think that anyone considering such programs should investigate thoroughly what the rquirements are and the end and future results of having the certifiation, and the requirements to use only the supplies and quipment recommended for the method.
