This is a perfect use for all the squares I have left from my Jewel Box. They are all gem-coloured solids or reads-solid, so it won't be a flower quilt.
I'm thinking of controlling the diagonal squares - making them all white - like in Burgoyne Surrounded
This is a great scrap quilt for using those tons of leftover squares we all have and I just love your idea of simulating a Burgoyne Surrounded -- wow! That will look fantastic!
