You could still use your small blocks in the same quilt ... frame them up with an extra strip/border. Or use them in a mass grouping, or on the borders.

Or how about setting them on point with side triangles and border if needed for a center medallian. Here's an idea with my first 10--blocks are 7.5 finished with setting triangles. Top/bottom border is 1.75 and sides are 3.25. This yields a 24.75 x 48.75+ rectangle easily trimed to 24.5 x 48.5 to set unsashed blocks around. Notice how nice the basket and apple tree blocks look on point.
