Monica, question....the treadle belt on my NVF has started slipping out of the groove on the wheel on the irons...is it too loose? It was a brand new belt when I put it on.
Janice, With new leather belts, adjustments will need to be made after you have treadled with them for a couple of days or a week. I have had to adjust all of mine.
As to belts, I have tested the leather, the metal, and the aquarium tubing. My favorite so far is the aquarium tubing that I have picked up for super cheap at the Diaso Japan store ( like a dollar store). Why I like this material over the others is the fact that it is cheap, easy to cut, easy to sew through, grips the treadle groove, and doesn't make a noise like the metal one does.
