You are absolutely right - and a lot less work!
Thank you! I just figured that out and by doing that I realized that the backing fabric will make a much nicer binding than what I was going to use!!

Sorry, can't get rid of duplicate picture!!

Usually the backing is as big as the batting (or close). I turn/roll the backing with batting back onto the front and pin so that the batting is enclosed. You don't have to pin onto the front piece, just close to the front's edge so that the batting is enclosed.
