I don't know about oxygen tubing, but I would give it a try. If there is slipping, you could put a rubber band in the hand wheel to see if that grips the tubing.
The price of the tubing that I picked up at Daiso was ~$2; I believe it was under $2. I finally found the one package under a pile of fabrics. Daiso calls their aquarium tubing air hose for aquarium, and it is 5 meters long, which is enough for two treadles.
