When I am making a quilt for a baby with an unknown sex, I try to find something gender neutral. There are some great lines who have really pretty fabrics will all colors.

The one hint that I try to give - when you are making the quilt, make a few extra blocks. I use them to make a 'lovie' - same pattern, fabrics, etc. The size is usually about 20"sq give or take. They are great to use in the car with the car seat and when they get older they usually want to drag their blankets along with them. The smaller size makes it easy for them to carry without tripping over it.

EDITED TO ADD - Most of the time, I fall back on my all time favorite - Winnie the Pooh, classic version. Lots to choose from, gender neutral, and LOTS of options. HTH
