How nice of you to want to make her a quilt. If you don't want to ask the Dr., then I would try to get some information from someone in the office, such as nurse/receptionist as to color ideas. Some people are very fussy about colors.
I just adore my MD & made her a large lap-sized "Yellow Brick Road" from a fabulous collection of apple fabrics (the name of which I can't remember now -- senior moment!) because the little town she practices in is reknown for their apple orchards. She's a real find & has been our doctor since she was here at Mayo doing her residency! I wish everyone has such a wonderful health care provider. I consider myself very lucky!
