Not at all W4Me ... I just chuckled when I read what happened to those 4 quilts! And was for her that she was not happy with any of the 4 ... as a quilt! At least she made some lemonade!!! Instead of having four major UFOs!

HSTs ..... cut two squares 7/8" larger than the finished size you want after sewn in place with 1/4" seams. Right sides together, and draw line diagonally across one block. SEw 1/4" each side of the line. Slice on the line and press. Voila! two HSTs! .... I usually do at least 1" larger, so that I have some trimming allowance and can create realy nice and square HSTs.
