Also, create the block as it will look once sewn into place .... then add on the 1/4" seam allowances once you know what the pieces are going to be. This example it's simpler to do, being that each of the nine are the same sized. Another time, you might have different sizes. So as a hint for the future .... graph paper can be your friend. Sketch it out and then go from there.
Now I bet you too, can figure out how to do this if you wanted a 6" or 9" block!
And honestly, I think it'd be much prettier done with smaller blocks ... looks more daintier and finer IMHO!
