If I may suggest a free Craftsy on-line class called "Sewing Machine 911" with Claudia Miller.
http://www.craftsy.com Once in the Craftsy site, select On-Line Classes, and then Sewing. She uses 3 machines to demonstrate how to maintain a machine and a Janome is one of them. She talks about bobbins, thread, cleaning the machine, etc. It was a good review for me and it is free!
