That nursery rhyme quilt sings to my heart. I am a retired first grade teacher. Too bad I wasn't quilting while I was working. Yikes! Could we have had some fun!!! I did go back years later and worked with fifth grade classes. They did redwork embroidery. The first year, the topic was colonial days (culminating activity for a social studies unit) and the second year was a science activity. They designed flowers and did the redwork. Another year the fifth graders did crayon quilt blocks and made pillows. Thanks for bringing me back in time. Your DQ2 is also awesome. I'll have to do some research on that one. It looks like something I'd like to do.
