I don't have a thick mattress but I do have a problem with sheet corners popping up (DH thrashes around a lot!) I sew a wide piece of elastic diagonally across the corner (like from one edge of the elastic that is on the corner to the other). When you make the bed the wide elastic will be under the mattress. Also works well when the sheet elastic wears out but the fabric is still good.
