Martelli was banned from the Paduah quilt show. I talked to other vendors about this and no one had any good to say about the Martelli vendors. I was told how they hire young guys to woo and flatter the quilters into buying and then they joke about it behind the scenes how they could sell anything to them. The vendors close to their booth complained about the rudness. They were at the Paducah mall vending the next time and employing the same tactics of luring ladies in and sweet talking them. I sit and watched them for almost an hour and really realized what was going on after hearing about it. I will not buy their products as long as the company allows such unseemly sales tactics.
It sounds like a totally different company than the one at our quilt show here in Hampton but it's not. There were mostly women, old, young and in the middle. They demonstrated everything with no pressure to buy. I like most of the products except for the large binding clip; I've gotten two of them and they've fallen apart. The med and small one works great. I have a large binding clip dispenser since these were orginally made for office supplies so I use it instead of theirs. But I have to say the in the past couple of years that I've been to their shop here I haven't seen any of what you are talking about. But maybe there isn't as much competition here. I don't know or they hire different people for different shows. It does sound like they need to set up some guide lines for all to follow.
