Default Stack and Whack Block

I saw the tutorial that Missouri Star Quilt Company has on making Stack and Whack Blocks using a precut turnovers. Has anyone made one using turnovers --or with using scraps of material to make it scrappy. Whta the tutorial shows is each triangle is made with a different material and the background fabric (the rectangles) were all the sme fabric of a neutral color.I really liked this look of the one they made on the tutorial. But I never see turnovers at any of my local quilt shops. I do not know what size the triangles are? Does anyone know? Or if I make the block by cutting my own squares--and then cut them into triangles, what size squares should I cut? I would appriciate any input on this if anyone has done one like this. And I would especially like to see pictures of any that anyone has made like this. I would like to make a quilt like this for my 18 year old daughter for a graduation gift--and I want to make it with this scrappy look. Help.
