Demineralized water is different then distilled water. Demineralized water will evaporate and leave nothing behind. It is used for flushing out delicate equipment.
My understanding is that distilled water is demineralized (contains virtually no minerals). Water can also be demineralized by other processes, such as deionization, which is cheaper than distillation.
