Several years ago I bought a #57 patchwork foot for my vintage Bernina 830. I guess this foot was designed for a different machine, because the needle position I need to set my machine to make a perfect scant 1/4 inch seam is between two settings. I'm tired of battling with it. After reading this post:

Then after reading this tip from one of Bonnie Hunter's blog friends,

So simple, but it works well for me, because I like to have a raised guide to compensate for poor depth perception. I have to be able to remove any raised guides because I switch to other kinds of sewing which require a 5/8" seam. Having a pack of these on hand makes it easy to remove the tape without a residue to deal with.
